They reflect light and help concel the dark circles. Try using an under makeup primer. They are not expensive and help to even out skin tone. They also keep makeup from moving into creases. Go just a shade lighter that your make up. You do not want light circles around your eyes. Do not over do it. That will make it worse. Make sure you moisturize before applying any cosmetics. Use light colors on your upper lid. It draws the eye up. Get some sleep. And cold wet tea bags do help with swelling and dark circles.
